Now I Know How Roger Federer Feels

A year ago he was acclaimed as the greatest tennis player in history and perhaps along with Michael Johnson and Michael Jordan, the greatest athelete of our age.

Now Nadal is better.

Except instead of international tennis, the game I am playing is being the best regular blogger who sometimes eats dinner at the Cardboard Mansion. Cos let’s be honest, Babette was always a better writer and funnier and more honest. But now she’s kicking my ass on film reviews too.

Soon this blog will be nothing but a receptacle for stick-men caricatures of theologians scribbled on napkins.

I find it’s best to avoid such overwhelming competition by staying cool and saying nothing. That way people aren’t sure who the winner really is.

On the other hand, Babette doesn’t come up with photos that blow me away. Your photos aren’t bad.

The image of a cross, blinding me as I stand within this concrete cage: I’m afraid to be blinded and, not interested in pure light I look to the edges of the scene where I can see grey details processable by grey matter.

Wait. I’ve caught a glimpse of something beyond, within and through the cross, green goodness that promises to caress my senses and body, all my yearning existence. The light I cannot face holds what I can’t live without and I am coaxed out of my dark world by a certain, perfect ratio.

The photo just sums up the entirity. Your blog is brilliant.
