If the world was predictable based on logic and if people had joined-up theology that made sense when fit together, then you would anticipate that all cessationsits would also be in favour of gay ordination.

Cessationists, people who say the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased being given sometime around the death of the last apostle (without any Scriptural warrant and especially without historical support) basically are arguing that the Scriptures encode a particular time and place with certain phenomena and practices that no longer apply to today’s world.

Which is the exact same argument used by New England Episcopalians when they want to ordain gay bishops or Church of Scotland elders when they want to appoint ministers who have left their wife and kids to shack up with a boyfriend.

Allow me to use this post to ask an unrelated question.

I read at another blog recently a guy who was talking bout these cessaionist types ( which i believe the pissy eye is?)

He talked about Jesus saying we can get mountains to jump in the sea and the like cause super miracles announce to the world that something big is happening i.e. JESUS IS HERE!! so he doesnt allow us the kind of faith-power he tells the apostles they can have because he isnt coming back for a while… hence around the time when Jesus is coming back you and me will gladly banish carrauntohil into the middle of the atlantic. but not until then

I think that the cessaionist view is a steaming pile. but only cause of some of the people ive met over the years and the stories theyve told me and yet no story ive encountered comes anything close to mountain juggling. Whats going on?

The PCI is not cessationist. Sleep now. More later. You answer your own question first though Cronin!
